This magnificent, fine and impressive vintage opal necklace has been beautifully crafted in 18ct yellow gold.
The feature drop of this Art Nouveau necklace features a stunning carved opal, designed in the form of a female portrait, elegantly encased in a curvilinear setting that mirrors the intricacies of the figure’s hair.
The flowing hair design extends from the main feature and is adorned with four striking round cabochon cut rubies; three are surmounted with an individual impressive eight cut diamond and the surrounding mount bears two additional diamonds.
This central design is inspired by the Art Nouveau style, characterised by elegantly graduating sinuous bar links, each with a matte brushed finish.
This exquisite vintage gold necklace is secured at the back with a lobster clasp fastening.
The reverse of the gold opal necklace setting bears the engraved inscriptions ‘Necklace designed by B. JACOT’ pertaining to London jewellery designer and artist Bernadine Jacot and ‘Opal carving by ALFRED POCOCK, Fabergé c1950’*.
The clasp ring loop is hallmarked with the maker’s mark (JSC – J S Cattermole), the gold guarantee mark (crown), the London Assay Office hallmark (leopard’s head) and the date letter for 1998 (y).
The opal and ruby necklace, intricately carved, has undergone independent testing with advanced technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and has been confirmed to be made of 18ct gold. In addition an IDGL diamond and gemstone grading report card for the rubies and opal.
This magnificent necklace is fitted to the original hinged velvet presentation box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with a push fit catch.
This carved opal and ruby necklace in 18ct gold is a refined gift for milestone birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions, appealing to connoisseurs of distinctive vintage jewellery.
* Alfred Lyndhurst Pocock (1882-1962) was a British sculptor and gem carver who worked for the London branch of Fabergé around 1905. Pocock was known for creating wax animal models and semi-precious gem carvings, including royal commissions.
This magnificent necklace is exceptional quality, set with an impressive carved opal displaying fine presence.
The impressive rubies display fine colour and brilliance and the diamonds bear a fine white colour and brilliance.
This vintage opal necklace is a superior gauge of gold and is in exceptional condition, with clear hallmarks to the reverse of the setting and clasp’s ring loop.

Altered or Personalised Items
AC Silver has a stunning selection of antique and vintage items. Both of my brooches arrived right on time as indicated by the tracking. They are even lovelier in person and I look forward to wearing them for decades to come. Andrew and Gemma provided excellent communication and prompt dispatch. I would absolutely recommend working through them.
Fabulous service, beautiful product.
Beautiful collection and outstanding service. I already bought two extraordinary pieces and can only highly recommend.
I had to place the order over the phone as my internet was misbehaving. The lady who I spoke to could not have been more helpful and was particularly careful to get all the details correct. I was then informed about the collection and dispatch of the item purchased, by email. The item arrived as expected and it had been most well packed so that no harm could come to it. It was a delight to purchase this item from C6323, AC Silver, and I could not fault any aspect of their customer care. I was highly delighted with my silver mustard pot and it was much better than the pictures on the web site.
